Your Blog’s Success

SEO experts agree that the blog is an area that holds great leverage in all aspects of SEO. Here are a few guidelines to follow to make sure your blog gets noticed.

Create unique content. This will make it more valuable for search bots. Google only values unique content! Don’t just grab press releases you receive from suppliers (including ours) and copy and paste them into your blog. Retell the story in the release in your own words and your own opinion. For example, in late April we released news of our new Gourmet Cheesecake Sampler to industry media. By now you may have read about the 12-piece sampler featuring three pieces each of New York Style, Strawberry Swirl, Triple Chocolate and Caramel Pecan Turtle cheesecake. If you plan to blog about how delicious the Sampler is, we recommend trying it at an upcoming industry trade show (see Events Calendar) and then writing about it… as opposed to merely taking our word for it.

The Title of each post is critical. Title tags are displayed in search results (this is the linked part of Google search engine listing). All Title tags should be unique, and no longer than 70 characters, including spaces.

Keep pages lightweight. Make sure the files you upload are less than 100k to ensure the search bots and your audience will be able to easily go through your site in full.

Your Meta Description should be concise and attention-grabbing. It’s used to generate the few lines of text you see below the linked part on the search results page.

Spread out your shares. Some of your readers probably already connect with you on several platforms, right? If they see you post the same content on Twitter and in your blog as in your newsletter, they may stop connecting with you on all platforms. Vary the mix, and spread out your shares/news over a few days.
