The Truth About Cheese

We’ve never met a cheese we didn’t like. Parmesan-Reggiano. Provolone. Extra Aged Asiago. Pepper Cheese. Cheddar. Whether paired with wheat crackers, apples and grapes, sausage or a glass of Sauvignon Blanc, cheese is a satisfying indulgence.

Since 1979, when we opened our doors, cheese has been part of the Maple Ridge Farms product line. In recent years demand for it has grown significantly. This led us to add more upscale offerings which has increased the product’s popularity even more.

Still, some distributors say, “Cheese isn’t healthy so I’m not comfortable suggesting it to my clients. I want them to know I care about their customers’ and employees’ health.”
If you’ve had these concerns, it’s time to set them aside. Research shows cheese offers many health benefits. Here are a few reasons cheese should be a staple in our diets and makes a thoughtful corporate gift:

  1. Cheese is great for your teeth. We need calcium to have healthy teeth, and cheese is rich in calcium. In addition, cheese has been shown to reduce plaque. (In other words, eating cheese regularly along with good at-home dental care will make your next trip to the dentist more pleasant!)

  2. Cheese is good for your bones. A deficiency of calcium leads to Osteoporosis. Cheese provides protein, calcium and vitamins, which together benefit bone strength. The Vitamin B in cheese, in particular, helps our bodies absorb and distribute the calcium.

  3. Cheese can help prevent cancer. It contains Conjugated Linoleic Acid and Sphingolipids, which help prevent cancer. The Vitamin B in cheese is also good for maintaining body functions and protecting the body from disease.

  4. Cheese is good for your skin. Vitamin B is good for maintaining healthy, glowing skin. Cheese won’t automatically give you good skin, but it’s a reason to consider including cheese in your diet.

  5. Cheese provides many nutrients. The protein and B vitamins necessary for enhancing our metabolism and the production of energy are found in cheese. These nutrients also keep muscles strong and healthy. (Like any rich food, of course, cheese should be enjoyed in moderation to avoid weight gain.)
