The Numbers Tell The Story

As the saying goes, some pictures are worth 1,000 words. But numbers help tell a story, too. Here are a few that help tell ours.

  • The most amount of telephone calls we’ve received at Maple Ridge Farms in one day was 1,185. (And unlike the cell phone companies, we don’t drop any!)

  • On a typical day, we receive more than 1,000 emails before 12pm CT.

  • Although the largest percentage of our employees are from rural Mosinee, WI, where we are located, many travel 20-60 miles each way to our facility. We have 25 year-round employees. During the fourth quarter, our team swells to 300 people. Among us you’ll find farmers, retired teachers, retired paper mill workers, realtors, and people whose goal is to earn vacation money. We range from age 16 (part-time) to 74. Over fifty percent of our team comes back each year; 50 employees have worked for us more than five years.

  • New customer service reps undergo 75 intensive hours of training, followed by 50 hours of shadowing experienced team members, before they directly handle distributors’ needs. New reps are also paired with experienced agents who remain a tap on the shoulder away to ensure quickly answering distributors’ questions.

  • This time of year, our doors are open from 8:00am - 9:30pm CT. During November and December we often work weekends and/or 12-hour shifts to meet demand. We’ve even been known to work Thanksgiving Day; if we do, we provide a catered hot meal for those who choose to work.

  • Our busiest shipping week in 2010 was the week of 11/29:  we shipped 136,500 gifts in 6,500 cartons. (When we say you don’t have to worry about accepting last-minute orders, we mean it.)
